Travellers passing through the airport in Lanzarote will have access to a free internet service in the future.
AENA have awarded Kubi Wireless SL a two year contract to implement a WiFi internet network at 28 airports. The free service is limited to the first 15 minutes, surfers can then pay for a “premium” service with a faster connection if more time is required.
The full list of airports that this service will be rolled out to includes: Madrid-Barajas, Barcelona-El Prat, Málaga-Costa del Sol, Alicante, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza, Menorca, Gran Canaria, Tenerife Sur, Tenerife Norte, Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, La Palma, Bilbao, Santiago, A Coruña, Vigo, Asturias, Santander, Valencia, Sevilla, Federico García Lorca GranadaJáen, Jerez, Almería, Girona-Costa Brava, Reus, Murcia-San Javier & Zaragoza.
Aena Aeropuertos commented that they wanted to offer their users an internet access similar to that of other airports in Europe.
