The President of the Cabildo in Lanzarote has analysed the government initiative to regularise the holiday home rental market in the Canaries with associations ASCAV & ASEMCOM.
“The Canaries is the region of Spain with the highest number of holiday rentals, representing 10% of all the tourists coming to the Canaries, in the region of 1,300,000 during 2013. This directly generates an annual revenue in the region of 1,000 million euros and indirectly more than 34% of tourism employment and over 33% of GDP.”
This data was presented at the meeting by José Luis Delgado, the president of the Canarian holiday rental association ASCAV, Javier Valiente the lawyer for the association and Doris Borrego the president of the business association ASEMCOM in Playa Blanca. This information was given to Pedro San Ginés, the president of the Cabildo in Lanzarote during the meeting, with a request for the Canary Islands Government to regularise the holiday home market in the Canaries, as they have done in other autonomous regions such as Catalonia or Andalusia.
