As has become customary in recent years, PROMOTUR who promote tourism for the Canary Islands are holding a series of one day meetings at cities in the United Kingdom.
Professionals from the travel industry have been invited to attend sessions from the 1st to 4th July in Manchester, Chester, Birmingham and London. Twenty representatives from the Canary Islands, including Lanzarote, Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura have travelled to the UK to give first hand information about each of the islands.
Around 90 different travel agencies and 180 travel agents are expected to attend these regional workshops.
Additionally a new project called Baby & You was launched on the 10th June which is an initiative to promote family holidays in the Canary Islands. A manual containing guidance and advice for new parents during pregnancy and the first 12 months of a baby’s life will be distributed to pregnant women by their midwife or gynaecologist. The booklet includes links to the official tourism website for the Canary Islands along with special emphasis on the physical and mental benefits that our climate offers for children.
Promotur reiterated that the UK is of utmost importance for the Canaries as it’s traditionally the largest tourism market for the islands. The workshops seek to strengthen our presence in that market and at the same time alleviate a possible impact from the economic crisis affecting Europe.
