Puerto del Carmen tops the occupancy figures for the whole of Spain with 99.53% of tourist beds occupied in August.

Arrecife airport in Lanzarote received 253,051 tourists last month (up 3.1%), taking the total for this year up to 1,667,978 which equates to 3.6% more than in the same period last year, and means that Lanzarote is leading the year to date tourism growth figures for the archipelago. The figures were released by Promotur-Turismo de Canarias and accompanied by a press release from Turismo Lanzarote which confirmed that the French market is leading the growth trend for the island’s emerging markets with an increase of 30%, followed by Italy (15.7%). Regarding the traditional markets, our Irish visitors recovered after a fall in July with (12.4%) and the United Kingdom (4.3%), the national market is still recovering (4.3%) and the number of our German visitors dropped (-4.4%) compared to last year.
