A stretch of the expanded ring road in Arrecife could be open to traffic later this month according to a press release from the Cabildo.
The section of new road to be opened is the stretch between the junctions with Tahíche and San Bartolomé, which would end the detour with has been necessary through the barrio of Maneje.
The news was released by José Antonio Gutiérrez, the Minister for Roads and Works for the Cabildo of Lanzarote, who expressed his confidence saying “ the work is advancing at a good pace. The slopes are practically finished and asphalt is being laid in some areas of the section involved.” The councillor welcomed the early opening prediction “because of the disruption for many residents, especially with the noise and dust from the work”.
As the dual carriageway passes close to properties in Maneje, the new road has been laid about four feet lower than the previous carriageway which should dismiss the need for the plastic panels which were installed to minimize the effects of traffic noise and the road works, freeing Maneje from their isolation.
