The Cabildo of Lanzarote have launched a new campaign regarding the yellow recycle bins in Lanzarote.
The yellow recycling bins are for plastic bottles, cartons and cans. This new information campaign “Escachando conseguimos cinco veces más espacio” is aimed at encouraging people who already recycle their waste, to squash or fold the items first before depositing in the bin.
If we all flattened our milk cartons and squashed our water bottles, there would be five times more space and the containers would not fill up so quickly. It’s best to do this at home as you empty the can/carton/bottle to pour out any waste liquid, which also reduces the dirt and odours of recycling bins in the street.
Rafael Bailón, the Minister of Waste confirmed that 100% of what we separate in our homes and recycle via the Complejo Ambiental de Zonzamas is sent off the island. That’s another good reason for read more »
