Earlier in the month the first pet friendly beach in the municipality of Tías was inaugurated.
Several Town Hall representatives, including the mayor of Tías Pancho Hernández, as well as SARA´s staff and volunteers were present at the opening of approximately 200 meters stretch of beach in the Playa Guacimeta, not far from the Playa Honda one that opened up in October 2014.
A good number of residents from different nationalities and their pets attended the official opening also, with a constant flow of other people coming and going at different stages to check it all out. Blackie, my dog, and I decided to go along and after the initial nervousness wore off dogs of all ages, colours and sizes got acquainted with each other.
Many displays of enjoyment followed: there were dogs who loved swimming or rescuing objects from the water, there was also plenty of ball and stick fetching as well as just simply just running around, digging and general playing.
