The Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism at the Cabildo de Lanzarote have undertaken to restore the Molino at the Jardín de Cactus.
Restoration work to repair the wooden structure and gearing of the windmill began on the 22nd of October, this project was expected to take around two months and is expected to complete in the middle of December.
The work is being completed by Juan Agustín Padrón, a well known cabinetmaker and carpenter, who has already demonstrated his expertise in this kind of work at the gofio windmills in Mogán, Gran Canaria. Padrón was a student and apprentice of the grand master craftsman Domingo Abreut, they worked together on the restoration of the molino de Tiagua in 1982 as well as various other rehabilitation and construction of windmills on the island.
