The announcement from Mónica Álvarez,, the Minister of Environment for the Cabildo, also included some interesting statistics about the campsite. The introduction of allowing campers to reserve their pitch online in advance has increased bookings from 1113 permits in 2011 to 1288 in 2012, an increase of 15.7%.

The number of people staying at the campsite has also increased by 7.2% with 3,128 registered in 2011 to 3,353 in 2012. An average stay is 3.17 days, increasing to longer stays of 5-6 days during the winter months from November to March.

Busiest periods are the summer months of July (289 permits), August (254 permits) & September as well as Easter (131 permits).

Analysing the data by country, Spanish campers use the campsite most with 943 people and 73.2% of the users, followed by Germans 158, Italians 32, British & Belgian are level with 30 campers and the rest are made up from multi nationalities.

The Spanish campers are largely residents from within the Canaries 67.9% from the province of Las Palmas and 14.7% from Santa Cruz de Tenerife. People are travelling from the mainland with 2.4% and 2.3% from Madrid and Barcelona respectively as well as a smaller percentage from the Álava, Vizcaya, Valencia, Ávila, Baleares & Guipúzcoa regions.

La Graciosa is a delightful island, very laid back so it’s easy to chill and relax away from the everyday stresses of life. This campsite on the beach is situated on the outskirts of Caleta del Sebo and free to use, you just need to book in advance. Stays longer than 7 consecutive days are not permitted. There is a toilet block with showers, fires, BBQ’s & generators are prohibited as are dogs – inline with the municipal law regarding animals on the beaches. If you want to include a camping trip as part of your holiday to Lanzarote, you can buy lightweight, low budget tents and camping equipment from the main supermarkets during the summer months.
